The Differences Between Prejudice And Stereotyping

Lately in Freshman Seminar we have been discussing topics that relates to me and my other classmates as well. The different types of topics we have been discussing are prejudice, stereotyping, and propaganda. I received a clear understanding on the difference between prejudice and stereotyping. Those two words often gets defined or interpreted wrong. In class, we had also discussed the different type of conflict styles/resolutions. These topics are encountered in everyday lives. By different types of conflict resolutions relating to at least one of the topics. One conflict resolution I had learned about was forcing. Forcing resolution is when the issue is more important than the relationship. Forcing is the power made operative against resistance. An example of this conflict resolution relating to me, is when I chose to do group work with a person that is going to work, but at the end they don’t. This relates to the propaganda saying negative things about the competition. Say ing negative things about competition propaganda is the person lie and try to persuade you something, that’s not true. I had found out that they wasn’t going to do any work by me coming up with all the ideas and having to use my own brain to think. The person did simple tasks like getting the poster board and markers. This student was popular in school. So this made me have a stereotype on all popular people. Thinking they let the people who are smart or capable of understanding do all the work.
